Meola joined the LeMoyne staff in 2015 as graduate assistant coming from his alma mater, The College at Brockport.
He became recruiting coordinator and top assistant coach in July 2016 and focuses primarily with hitters; catchers and infielders. He has helped lead LeMoyne to better than a .600 winning percentage since 2017 season.
He has helped 25 players reach all league honors. He helped develop Brian Cox and Nick Place to NE10 Rookie Hitter of the Year honors in 2015 and 2016, respectively. In 2018, shortstop Ben Walsh became the first Dolphin to earn NE10 Player of the Year accolades. Andrew Taft was named the NE10 Player of the Year in 2019 to give the Dolphins back to back recipients. He helped lead the Dolphins to one of their best seasons in years during the 2018 season, where they won the NE10 Southwest Division title, earned an NCAA Championships berth and finished the season with a 34-17-1 record. Le Moyne saw its highest offensive output in years during the wood-bat era in the 2018 season in which they were first in the NE10 in on-base percentage, slugging percentage and home runs. Josiah Gray was selected as NE10 co-Pitcher of the Year in 2018 and helped Scott Cassidy become NE10 Coach of the Year in 2018.
On the recruiting front, he helped recruit and develop two student-athletes into MLB Draft selections. In 2018, Josiah Gray became the second-highest draft pick in the program’s history when he was selected 72nd overall by the Cincinnati Reds. Two years later, Ryan Murphy was selected in the MLB Draft in the fifth round (144th overall) by the San Francisco Giants.
Prior to LeMoyne, he coached at his alma mater, SUNY Brockport, for four seasons, helping lead the Golden Eagles to the NCAA regional in 2011 and three conference championship game appearances. Helped maintain various responsibilities for the Golden Eagles, including working with the team's hitters, infielders as well as coaching first base. He was an assistant to Justin Beach, who was the SUNYAC Coach of the Year in 2011 and 2014, including ECAC coach of the year, and the Golden Eagles registered an overall record of 104-62 during the four-year run.
Meola also spent two seasons in the New York Collegiate Baseball League, including leading the 2012 Jr. Chiefs to the NYCBL regular and postseason title with 28-12 record. As associate head coach, helped Casey Scott to Coach of the Year honors in 2012. During both of his seasons with the Jr Chiefs, he coached Auburn-native Tim Locastro, who would be drafted in the 13th round of the 2013 MLB draft.
For the 2014 summer, he was associate head coach for the Brockton Rox of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. The team went 34-22 and Meola assisted Bryan Stark, who was named Coach of the Year. He helped mentor shortstop Zach Short; then of Sacred Heart, who went on to be selected in the 17th round of the 2016 MLB draft.
He finished his playing career at Brockport second in program history in hits, second in at-bats, second in walks, second in defensive assists, fourth in doubles, fourth in runs scored, fourth in games played and 10th in stolen bases.
A graduate of The College at Brockport with a degree in History, Meola currently resides in Liverpool.
Mike Smith joined the coaching staff in 2022 after a five-year playing career with the Dolphins.
As a player, Smith ended his career with a .311 batting average, 133 hits and 12 home runs. Over the five years, Smith played 133 games, mainly in the outfield but also at every infield spot. In his graduate year in 2022, Smith batted .340 with 10 homers, earning him all-region and all-conference honors. Smith was named to the 2022 NE10 First Team, NCBWA East Region Second Team and ABCA/Rawlings East Region Second Team. Smith was also a member of the 2018 and 2022 Dolphin teams which participated in the NCAA Tournament.
